The flag is single with double-sided appliqué.
The front and back appear bright, with the reverse being a mirror image of the front.
Appliqué is a technology in which the design is created from additionally sewn textile, with the image shaped using a zigzag stitch.
This technique achieves a striking, relief image.

This “Liberty or Death” flag is a modern replica of the legendary flag embroidered by Rayna Knyaginya during the April Uprising of 1876.
The original flag is a symbol of the Bulgarian struggle for freedom and national dignity.
